Leela asks Anupamaa if she is forgetting anything, to which Anupamaa replies that Leela is listening to her heart. Leela asks Anupamaa why she can’t stay here instead of traveling to Mumbai to live among strangers, reminding her that the entire family wants her to stay with them. Anupamaa is shocked. Later, as four generations pray together, Anupamaa blesses Kinjal and Prarthana. While Anupamaa suggests that Prarthana relax, Leela encourages her to prepare something for the kitchen ritual but cautions her against fasting. Leela then begs Anupama to go to the temple as today is both Anuj’s birthday and Janmashtami. Anupamaa takes the chance to declare her affection for Anuj.
At the Kothari house, the family prays and chooses to celebrate Vasundhara Janmashtami. When Parag discloses that he went to visit the Shah family because of Prarthana, Vasundhara criticizes him of forsaking other relationships for her sake. Anil intervenes and asks that they refrain from fighting during the celebrations. Meanwhile, Anupamaa resolves to celebrate Anuj’s birthday. She confronts Rahi, who insults her and questions if she is attempting to convey her love for Anuj and accuses her of only loving herself.
Anupama clarifies that Anuj wanted them to enjoy his birthday together,
so they are there at the same time. Rahi, annoyed, reminds her that when Anupamaa left. They had celebrated Anuj’s birthday alone, and teases her for not being able to be a mother while challenging her to a dance competition. Rahi vows to win in order to damage Anupamaa’s ego after she responds harshly. Prem tries to calm Rahi down, but she is set on celebrating first. She asks Prem to tell Anupamaa to wait. Anupama agrees to wait, later tells Anuj that though Rahi is rukhi. She has got used to his attitude.
Back at Shah’s residence, Jignesh surprises everyone by dressing up as Lord Krishna. Anupama discovers the dancers, and Sarita expresses eagerness to experience the Gujarati Janmashtami for the first time. Leela explains that in Gujarat, garba takes place following the devotion of Bal Gopal. Rahi and Prem then take the form of Radha and Krishna, while Shah and Kothari celebrate Janmashtami together. Rahi and Anupama both miss Anuj a lot, even with the festivities.
